"Nothing But Blue Skies..."

Smile, it's contagious.

I’ve always been disappointed in the “Don’t Talk to Strangers” rule. Don’t get me wrong, I completely understand the ‘keeping babies safe’ aspect of the demand. But it is quite unfortunate that people have a tendency to strictly stick to that rule even after they have grown enough to know the difference between the good folk and the sketchy folk.

Talk to people, People.

Life is so much more interesting when you reach out and get to know are the other folk inhabiting this earth. There are so many people out there with your same interests or ideals. There is a person out there who may be your soul mate. There are people who are just plain, old entertaining and will make you wonder how you ever survived without them.

I personally like to make conversation with anyone in the Customer Service field of work: the greeter at Bath and Body Works, anyone who works in a candy shoppe, my cashier at whatever store I am purchasing things at. They respond the best (i.e. actual converse) to a complete stranger talking to them.

My favorite random conversationalist was the retailer at Jim Laabs Pianos. He answered my inquiry about a gorgeous Player Grand that was being showcased (and playing by itself! I love that) and told me his entire life story, all while playing some Bach on a shiny black Falcone upright.

So, I express again with utter vehemence, TALK TO PEOPLE! Strangers become marvelous secondary characters in the show that is your life.
